Finding Your Golden Buddha

In 1957, an entire Monastery in Thailand was being relocated by a group of monks.

One day they were moving a giant clay Buddha when one of the monks noticed a large crack in the clay.

On closer investigation he saw there was a golden light emanating from the crack.

The monk used a hammer and a chisel to chip away at the clay exterior until he revealed that the statue was in fact made of solid gold.

This Buddha was 9’8″ and weighed 5.5 tons.

It’s said to be worth $250,000,000.

200 years prior, there was word that the Burmese army was headed toward Bangkok, Thailand to overtake the city.

Historians believe the Buddha had been covered with clay by Thai monks to protect it from an attack by the Burmese army.

In the attack, all the monks had been killed.

After hundreds of years, no one in the land remembered the Buddha was once gold.

It wasn’t until 1957 that this Golden Buddha was actually discovered.

The moral of the story:

You, me, and we all have a Golden Buddha hidden inside of us.

When we are kids, we were born pure, innocent and priceless.

Somewhere along the way, we lose ourselves.

We go to school and are taught how to walk, talk, act, what to study, what profession we should go into, etc.

Our parents put fear into our hearts, tell us not to take risks, date that guy, and to avoid getting heartbroken.

We even begin to talk down to ourselves, not thinking we are good enough, smart enough, or worthy.

We create this shell to protect ourselves from the outside world – we call this “putting up walls.”

Eventually, we even forget our own worth or value.

But something happens.

Whether a health scare, a divorce, or even a loss of a job – our casing gets cracked.

Then someone comes along and sees there is light inside of us.

They tell us there is something more we should be doing.

And that we deserve more in life.

That is when we rediscover there is a Golden Buddha hidden inside of us.

Once this happens, our lives will never be the same again.

We begin to remember we are valuable and worthy.

The Golden Buddha lies inside of you.
